The Living Material Leather is a natural, organic material. Much like your own skin, it requires hydration and protection to remain at its best. Because Homaco uses premium full-grain hides, a small amount of maintenance can literally double the lifespan of your bag or wallet.
Step 1: The Gentle Cleanse Dust and environmental pollutants can settle into the grain of your leather. Once a month, use a soft, dry microfibre cloth to wipe down your item. For deeper cleans, a slightly damp cloth with distilled water is all you need. Never use alcohol-based cleaners or baby wipes, as these strip the natural oils and cause premature cracking.
Step 2: Conditioning for Longevity Every six months (or more often if you live in a very dry climate), apply a high-quality leather balm. Use a circular motion to work the cream into the fibers. This keeps the leather supple and maintains its water-resistance. A well-conditioned bag is significantly less likely to scratch or stain.
Step 3: Storage and Rain If you get caught in a classic UK rain shower, don't panic. Gently wipe away the excess water and let the bag dry naturally at room temperature. Never place it on a radiator, as extreme heat will make the leather brittle. When not in use, store your Homaco piece in its dust bag in a cool, dry place.
